Happy Abolition Day! The last prison in the USA has just been closed under the 2036 Reparations and Reconciliation Act. How did we get here? 　　This Afrofuturist, queer-forward, hybrid documentary is set in a utopian future where Black and Indigenous ancestors, or ‘past parents’, have succeeded in prison abolition after decades of struggle. Celebrating this achievement means understanding the history of the American prison complex and the principles of transformative justice – investing in healthcare, forgiveness and accountability within community. Mixing archive footage with the voices of contemporary revolutionaries and abolitionist artists from across the US, Space to Breathe teaches us that our battles for a better world are not in vain.

The earth cannot be saved. Space agencies are sending thousands of astronauts to neighbouring systems in an effort to find a new home for humanity. Stranded alone for three months on a frozen planet, Cooper is running out of food and resources. He questions the intentions of the space agency that sent him on the mission.
